ApacheCon Europe 2006 Announces New Business Track

Frankfurt (Germany), 9. Mai 2006

The Apache Software Foundation (ASF) and Software & Support Verlag proudly announce the new Business Track at ApacheCon Europe 2006, the official conference of the ASF in Europe. The event follows on the success of ApacheCon Europe 2005 and will take place June 26–30 2006 at the Burlington Hotel in Dublin, Ireland.

Considered among the most successful Open Source organizations worldwide, the ASF has to date held its conferences in the US and Europe, with attendees from more than 30 countries. ApacheCon has evolved into a highly anticipated event for the Open Source community to exchange ideas and gain insight on the latest technical issues in Open Source development. Its informal, hands-on atmosphere, and open forum provide a unique opportunity to exchange ideas, network, and discuss core topics facing the community-at-large and to learn about future initiatives.

New to ApacheCon Europe is a two-day track aimed at a broader audience – from project leads, to CTOs, to key decision-makers – that showcases best practices in Open Source as well as insight from a business perspective. Topics include strategy and marketing, legal and community issues, as well as product management, business development and other areas where community and commerce intersect. The focus of the tutorials on the second day is to cover topics in even more depth.

The Business Track will kick off with the Opening Keynote by Thawte and Ubuntu founder Mark Shuttleworth. Sessions and tutorials will be led by internationally-recognized industry experts, including Brian W. Fitzpatrick (Google), Sally Khudairi (HALO Worldwide), Bertrand Delacretaz (codeconsult), Gianugo Rabellino (Sourcesense), and Cliff Schmidt (Vice-President, Legal Affairs of the Apache Software Foundation).

The Business Track can be booked for as little as € 569, and includes the sessions and tutorials, the Keynote sessions, the Welcome Reception, and the Expo. For session information, speakers’ bios, complete conference agenda, and registration information please visit http://www.eu.apachecon.com.
